Meet Dennis Dockham, a 62-year-old ordained Christian minister and the founder of Disciple of Christ Ministries. After a spiritual awakening and surrendering his life to Jesus Christ, Dennis found a new purpose in serving his Lord and Savior. On October 27, 2008, he was reborn in Christ while serving time in the Billerica House of Correction.
After his release in November 2011, Dennis made a vow to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance. A few months later, he remembered a divine dream he had while in prison, where God told him to start a ministry for inmates. But Dennis felt he didn’t have the knowledge or experience to do it. So, he took a leap of faith, believing that if it was from God, it would happen. In May 2012, Disciple of Christ Ministries was born, driven by faith in God’s word.
Over the past 13 years, Dennis has poured his heart into nurturing and growing this ministry. His goal is to reach everyone who’s looking for life-changing ways. He’s always been committed to Jesus Christ, studying His Word and listening to His call. He’s even assembled a team of volunteer leaders to help him spread the Gospel of Christ in prisons and jails across the United States. Right now, they’re serving about 700 inmates in 42 states.
Dennis’s journey with Disciple of Christ Ministries has changed his life in incredible ways. It all started when he realized he was powerless on his own. He came to understand that he needed Christ’s presence in his daily life. He also realized the importance of faith in God and the power of prayer in his spiritual journey.
Now, as I continue to serve God with all my heart, I’m thrilled to share another incredible story with you. On February 2, 2024, after routine rotator cuff surgery, something unexpected happened in the recovery room. I stopped breathing and my heart stopped! They declared me dead for six whole minutes! Can you believe it? After being shocked three times and three rounds of CPR, they put me on a breathing tube for three weeks as my lifeless body laid in the ICU.
I saw so many amazing things and heard so many powerful messages from God, I was told that my work wasn’t done yet and that I had to go back and finish the work I had started. On February 27, 2024, I woke up! This I call my second death and my physical resurrection! When I woke up, I was amazed to learn about all the prayers people had sent up for me. It was incredible to see how much God’s love and power were working in my life.
I was shocked and scared of what would come. In all I spent nine weeks in the hospital, and when I finally got to go home, I had to use a wheelchair and breathe with an oxygen tank. But through it all, I never lost my faith and knew Jesus was walking alongside me.
I believe that God’s favor was on me because I’ve always been so faithful to Him and so strong in my faith in Christ. I also know that prayer is incredibly powerful, and I’m so grateful for all the people who prayed for me.
I’m almost fully recovered now, and I don’t need a wheelchair or oxygen anymore. My heart is healthy, and I’m feeling great. It was truly a miracle, and I’m so thankful to God for saving my life.

Please will you help support this Ministry.
Since the foundation of Disciple of Christ Ministries were laid in May 2012, we have taken a vision given to Pastor Dennis while serving time, to now a thriving outreach ministry reaching across the country.
We are doing this through Pen Pals for Jesus, our correspondence by mail Prison Ministry. Currently we are serving over 900 inmates across the U.S., matching them with Christian men and women volunteers who share hope and encouragement through letters of Christian support.
Disciple of Christ Ministries boldly goes into the darkest places to shine the Light of the Gospel for others to see! As we continue to grow in numbers, so does the cost of operating the ministry. With all the new mail restriction in place brought us to spend more to reach the inmates bringing a strain on our resources across the board. Leaving us to reach out to churches and organizations inviting them to join us in our efforts in building the Kingdom of God.
Any love gift amount would be used for the glory of God.
We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization
Thank you in advance
and may God bless you!
