Dear Friend,

As we celebrated our 12 years serving God through our Prison Ministry, I have seen the power of the Holy Spirit work within me, turning a vision I was given while serving time myself into what Disciple of Christ Ministries is today - truly a blessing in my life. I look back to June 7, 2012, the day I stepped out of my comfort zone and placed my faith in Christ, knowing that if this is really what He wanted me to do, He would provide the tools. I then said that I would place my whole heart and soul into forming Disciple of Christ Ministries and see where it would lead me.

In the beginning things were slow and I struggled with my interpretation of what God wanted me to do, but I knew I had to stay focused on the task I was given. As the years went by things started to fall into place: our Pen Pals for Jesus became the focus of the ministry. At first, I was writing 5 inmates myself, 3 from Texas and 2 from California. That was in 2013. As we started to grow, I could no longer write to everyone myself, so I started a Newsletter to make sure every inmate received a piece of mail 6 times a year.

Today I am 100% sure that I am on the right path in building what was once a vision I believed God wanted me to oversee, reaching the lost and forgotten. It’s a task where I had no idea of how I would make a difference in building His kingdom. Now 11 years into the ministry we are serving over 900 inmates in 42 states matching them with other Christians through Pen Pals for Jesus, our mail correspondence prison ministry. We are looking to start sending out our newsletter once again, now called “The Disciple Times,” 4 times a year, and have added a Christmas Card Outreach every year. We have built up our volunteer base to 100 Christian men and women across 20 different states who correspond with the inmates. We always welcome new volunteers to join our efforts.

I will end with this: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” (Matt 9:37) My work here will continue to move forward, and our fields of lost sheep will grow as we share the Gospel inside our jails and prisons. I will always need more support to continue our mission and know my faith will carry me through.

This ministry strictly relies on donations to meet our financial needs. James 4:2b says: you do not have, because you do not ask. Well, I am asking! I challenge you to join our efforts by donating $10.00 so we can start up the Newsletter again with all the new mailing restrictions in place across the different states.
